I would highly recommend Rare Heating and Air to anyone needing work done. They were very professional, extremely responsive, and quick to install my new furnace. They even moved up my scheduled install date due to the cold weather. Their work was solid, in addition to the furnace install, they replaced gas line, fixed a leak on my hot water heater, and removed an old central air unit.

The service was prompt, my phone calls and text messages were answered immediately. My furnace was not working, and the service man assigned to me had everything repaired immediately, and now I have heat! I highly recommend.

The workers were very thorough and complete to make sure our AC unit was fixed to the utmost professional level. He went above and beyond to make sure things were complete and beyond to help us in areas we wouldn't have noticed without his input.

My water heater died. Shawn came out the same day I called to look at it. Quoted me the price to remove and install new water heater, said he would return the next morning to install it. The next morning we had a snowstorm. Shawn contacted me to let me know they were moving slow, but would be here. They showed up in the midst of the storm! He was very informative and knowledgeable. His assessment, acquiring the part, and installing to complete the job was done in awesome time so that my tenants were able to move in on time, not to mention his costs were totally affordable. Had to get a new condenser installed because of shoddy install from previous contractor work. Shawn was very profesional and tidy. He came over, diagnosed the system. Once the new condenser arrived, he had it replaced in a couple hours. Very reasonable on price and and backs up his workmanship. Will use again.

My sons old furnace stopped working during the coldest part of the winter which meant he had no hot water also. The other contractor was very overpriced. I reached out to Shawn based upon his excellent reviews. Shawn rearranged his entire schedule and came out the same day. Shawn was able to obtain a chimney liner repair and get a new hot water heater and furnace installed within days. He negotiated a good price and also helped me with the liner pricing. Shawn and his crew company came through in flying colors for me this past week. My 40+ year old boiler decided it was time to die in the afternoon - assuming I wouldn't be able to get someone to the house to look at it until the next day at least, they were the first call I made and Shawn was here within hours that same evening despite it being past normal business hours.

He gave me a detailed breakdown of what happened and spent the time to visually point everything out to me so I fully understood what was going on.

He provided me with multiple options, and unlike a lot of other companies, at no point did I feel pressured into paying for any more expensive options. He clearly just wanted me to make the best decision that works for my home and that I was comfortable with.

As soon as we had a game plan, he was here and got right to work taking the old system out and bringing the new one in. It was a multiple-day job, and the whole crew were respectful of my schedule and availability. They were all quick, friendly, they showed up on time each day and stayed late to make sure the job got done at the end. I also enjoyed that they left my basement floor in cleaner condition than I had originally left it for them!

During the whole process, Shawn has been easily accessible and quick to respond to any follow ups. And in the end, I have a brand new heating system and my house feels nice and toasty.

I couldn't possibly consider ever calling someone else after my experience with them. They will always be my first call if I ever have another HVAC need.

Shawn is my go to for not only heating and air conditioning service but for everything! His knowledge and experience allows him to figure out any problem quickly and efficiently. I first called Shawn in 2019 and had him replace my water heater. Since then he has serviced my heating and a/c unit, fixed plumbing issues, window capping, woodwork, etc. He is very professional, reliable, and always does an outstanding job! I cannot say enough about Rare Heating and Air. We originally contacted Shawn a few years ago for a plumbing issue. Shawn was quick to respond and fix our problem. The next time was to replace our water heater in 2019. With an older air conditioning unit we needed occasional servicing through the years. Shawn was able to give us additional time on our old air conditioning, until we realized it was time. We were given 3 different options of replacement's and we made our decision and Shawn and his team worked tirelessly in horrible heat to get our new air and heater installed. Can't say enough good things about Shawn and his crew. Shawn was very responsive when interacting with him prior to hiring. We had an old blower style gas heater that we wanted to move across the room between our sump pump and HVAC. Shawn was able to recommend a more energy efficient Aeroterm style unit and figured out a way to fit a 50 gallon unit (rather than downsizing as I had planned) into a very tight space. When spending money on a big job around the house, it's rare that you actually feel like you got your money's worth. After seeing all of the care, attention to detail, and quality workmanship that Shawn put in, I am so glad that I hired Rare Heating and Air for the job. Hired to install a heat pump hot water heater and flood/leak detection and automated whole-home shutoff. Given our small, mostly finished (but not conditioned) basement where the water heater would go, I wasn't sure if I was taking a risk with noise and temperature drops in the winter.

Shawn was easy to communicate with, answered my questions promptly and thoroughly, and shared information and options without ever trying to push any extras. Appreciated that. The work was great, and given our space was not especially easy. The area was cleaner than when they started. After a small issue arose shortly after installation, Shawn was back right away to fix it. Also helped secure the rebate for the water heater offered by PECO and promptly after installation sent me information to claim federal tax credit. Very happy with it all.

My daughter bought a property in West Philly from a company that flips houses for their business. This was her and her husband's first home as she was recently employed in center city. Being inexperienced with the workings of a house she trusted the word of the seller's and her real estate agent. The property was renovated and supposedly everything was up to code. Needless to say this was just another ripoff flip job by this company and there were tons of problems to correct. Long story short, I guess it's too late to say that now but, I had Rare Heating and Air come in to check out the air conditioning at the house which was barely working. Shawn almost immediately called me back and let me know there were multiple dangerous safety issues with the heating system as well as the gas hot water heater. Basically the chimney where everything was venting into was useless and could not be used or repaired which meant both the heater, air and hot water heater needed to be replaced with power vented systems. Shawn got right on it and we were lucky to have such an honest hard working guy to help us out. The work was top notch and he also revamped most if not all of the ductwork and returns to make the system work like it was supposed to. I'm originally from Philly, but have been gone for many years. I was lucky to find Rare Heating and Air to do this job for us. I cannot emphasize enough of what a professional Shawn is as well as his crew. Don't know what we would've done without him!! I am a bit late with this review. My husband and I were fortunate to find Shawn/Rare Heating during the summer of 2020 when we were selling our home. After the inspection found deficiencies in our heating system, we needed to replace and relocate our water heater, replace ductwork to our heater that was emitting carbon monoxide and close ductwork in out garage that was possibly a conduit of carbon monoxide. Shawn came at the scheduled time, evaluated the situation and discussed options with us. He sent over his quote and we quickly accepted. He had two assistants with him who worked diligently to get the job done in the sweltering heat! Shawn was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He wrote a report that we could provide to the buyers which helped settlement to go smoothly and to ease the minds of our first time buyers. I am grateful to Shawn. I've recommended him to family members and he is coming to help with an issue at our new home. We relied on reviews when looking for a HVAC professional and I hope this one helps your decision.

My family's experience with Shawn and his crew was absolutely nothing less than outstanding. Shawn was extremely punctual on all our meetings, extremely detailed and thorough about the right solution that satisfied our needs and wishes. He listened to everything we had to say. We met at least 5-6 times upfront to discuss, design and iron out the details in a very well written and clear contract. He made sure all of our concerns were addressed and the pricing was very fair and within our budget without cutting any corners. The implementation phase started on the dot and they worked through tough conditions and long hours to get a tough job done on time. The result were a meticulously installed 5-unit ductless AC system. Could not have asked for a better job. Contractors like Shawn are hard to find.

I contacted Rare Heating and Air to repair an exterior faucet leak that was causing water infiltration into my basement. Shawn stopped by on SAT to review leak. When he noticed that I had shut off the main feeding the entire house, he proceeded to cut and install a shut off valve to temporarily stop the flow feeding the exterior faucet. As a result, I was able to turn on the main water line feeding the entire house. He did an exceptional job. He will be returning to install the New frost free replacement exterior faucet when it arrives. Meanwhile, I have water feeding my entire house. His price was extremely fair and his work was proficient....He's my GO TO PLUMBER!

I was very happy with Rare heating and air. They did high quality work at an affordable price. I used them for a full HVAC system install. It was for an older home and they went above and beyond to ensure the system was installed correctly and within my budget. Shawn Rohr is an excellent contractor who keeps his word, which is often difficult to find these days. I went on to use him and his services for several other projects on my home. Shawn is a very knowledgeable person. Excellent demeanor and a fantastic installer who pays extreme attention to details. He installed a new water heater system with all new piping within 24 hours of calling him. Was able to get me the Bradfird White water heater model I requested and did a fantastic and thorough job.

He also checked my Lennox AV unit and which need some maintenance and came back in the evening and added some refregerent that was very low and tuned up the AC which now is cooling like a new. He have me excellent maintenance advice and tips . Really a wonderful and straight forward person.

Highly Recommend him as he is a total package one stop shop for all heating and cooing needs for your home.

Shawn was amazing- responded so quickly to my request for service on Yelp and was able to come out the same day. It turned out that there was a much more complicated problem than originally thought, and he had to return at a future date and time to finish the job. Fortunately, he came a day earlier than promised, and now we have a working boiler again. Professional, courteous, responsive- definitely highly recommended!

Shawn answered his phone on the third ring, and, after I explained my heater problem, he was at my home in 35 minutes. After evaluating my problem, he left to purchase the supplies needed. Soon, he was back and working on my heating system; he replaced the propylene glycol my system requires by pumping the new glycol in while pushing out the old diluted and ineffective glycol. He also put in a leak sealer to stop a leak at the boiler. He never spilled a drop (my boiler is on my second floor)! Shawn's bill was a couple of hundred dollars less (parts and labor) than I expected to pay. And what a pleasant person to deal with!

I will be replacing my problematic boiler at the end of this heating season. Can you guess who I'll be calling? Correct: Shawn at Rare Heating and Air!

I highly recommend Rare Heating and Air. I reached out to a few heating/air companies and Shawn responded within 24 hours and came out the following day. I always have my guard up with contractors but Shawn was great from start to finish. He educated me about my heating system (boiler) he even drained/removed an older expansion tank that was left in my basement. Great guy and very help, someone you can trust to give you honest advice.

Shaun replied immediately when my hot water boiler broke. Gave me next day service. He replaced the boiler, added a separate gas valve and change the additional water valve. Took his time and did a really good job. Very nice and punctual. He know his stuff. Will be using him for now on on other projects and will recommend him to family and friends. Very reasonable price. He will be back today to put up a carbon monoxide alarm at no charge. Very satisfied with his work.

I had a problem with my furnace every winter for the last 5 years, the unit was installed in 2013. I hired many HVAC specialists every year without resolving my problem and costing me a lot of wasted money. I hires Shawn at Rare based on his plethora of excellent reviews. He is truly an exceptional diagnostician and the only person who took the time to find out what was really going on and actually FIX IT. In addition to being great at his profession, he is honest, and he even calls to follow up which is unheard of in HVAC business. Half the time service providers won't get back to you, not Shawn, he is always available to answer calls. Rare goes above and beyond for customers. I will not hire anyone else!
